500 Days of Summer

Film: 500 Days of Summer [Rating: 8/10]
While I admit that the story and characters were quite entertaining and well developed, I have to say that the real stars in this movie are the soundtrack and the cinematography/visuals. The latter manifesting itself in the form of amazing shots of Los Angeles’ Downtown area, and through various graphical effects, which I’m obviously a sucker for. As for the soundtrack, there were enough melodies thrown in per scene to keep a music junkie like myself singing throughout the whole movie. From The Pixies (during a karaoke scene) to The Smiths (the infamous elevator scene) the film makes it obvious that the creators of the film know the indie music scene as well as they knew their Downtown landmarks.
